Young Photographer of the Year 2018
Norwich University of the Arts was the venue on 18 April for the Exhibition of all the entries to the Young Photographer of the Year held by the Rotary Club of Norwich, followed by the presentation of prizes to the winners and runners-up.
The theme this year was “From a Different Perspective”, and the 28 students who entered certainly took the subject to heart and produced a very wide and varied interpretation of it. The entries had been judged by James Smith, Head of Photography at the Norwich University of the Arts with some help from Anne Templeman who ran the competition on behalf of the Rotary Club of Norwich.
The winner at Senior Level was Ishika Dhatariya from Norwich High School for Girls, second was Tyler Langham and third place went to Maika Elsey-Medina, both from Hewett Academy in Norwich. First prize at Intermediate Level went to Rehmat Bokhari from Wymondham High Academy. Two Highly Commended Certificates at Intermediate were presented to Annabelle Pitt and Chloe Kirkland, both from Wymondham High Academy.
For the second year in succession the winning entry at Senior Level from the Rotary Club of Norwich has won the District competition and the photographs forwarded for judging at the National Final. This is only the second year that the Club has entered this particular competition and last year our winning entry took the National Prize. We wish Ishika the very best of luck with her entry this year.
